Report: NFLPA boss DeMaurice Smith sends ominous email regarding work stoppage

The head of the NFLPA DeMaurice Smith has sent an email to players’ agents warning them to prepare for a potential work stoppage, Sports Business Daily is reporting.

The current CBA, signed in 2011 after an offseason lockout, expires at the end of the 2020 season.

SBD also says the NFL has “begun its push for a new labor agreement” with the NFLPA, even though the current CBA “does not expire for another year and a half.” The NFLPA would like to get a deal done before current President Eric Winston’s term ends in March of 2021.
