Report: NFL teams have made trade calls about Broncos CB Chris Harris

NFL teams have contacted the Broncos about wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders and the team is expected to move him before the NFL’s trade deadline on Oct. 29. Sanders isn’t the only player on Denver’s roster that teams are interested in.

Teams “expressed interest” in trading for cornerback Chris Harris in recent weeks, according to KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis. Those teams were turned down by general manager John Elway but that was before the team dropped to 2-5. Elway may have a change of heart, especially if the team loses on Sunday.

Klis did not mention which specific teams have reached out to the Broncos but he did mention the Eagles and Texans as teams that need help at cornerback. Denver is seeking a second- or third-round pick for Sanders and Harris would likely have more value than that.

Elway is likely “less inclined” to trade Harris than Sanders, according to Klis, in part because the team is so thin at cornerback. But it would probably be hard to turn down a first-round pick, if somebody offered one.

Harris, 30, is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent in 2020. He is the only cornerback in the NFL that recorded multiple interceptions each year from 2012-2018. Harris has one interception so far this season.
