Report: NFL considers allowing a Chargers move to London

The National Football League has long hoped of putting a team in London. Many expect it to be the Jacksonville Jaguars, who regularly play there. A report Monday says the team could be the Los Angeles Chargers.

Per Vincent Bonsignore of The Athletic:

This would be stunning but definitely worth pursuing as the Chargers have not been embraced in any way, shape or form since moving from San Diego to the field in Carson, a suburb of Los Angeles.

The Chargers plan on moving into the new stadium that is being built in Los Angeles, primarily for the Rams. They would be co/secondary tenants in that venue.

The Chargers’ franchise actually began in Los Angeles in the AFL, staying there for one year before moving to San Diego. Ownership wanted a new stadium and when that didn’t happen decided to move north to Los Angeles. The decision has paid off in home games turning basically into road contests as opponents’ fans have eaten up tickets.

London could be calling and that would be an intriguing option.
