Report: Nelson Agholor expected to remain with Eagles in final year of rookie deal

It appears Nelson Agholor will remain with the Philadelphia Eagles, at his salary of $9.3 million, despite the team trading for the speedster, DeSean Jackson. According to Tim McManus of ESPN.com, it’s expected that Agholor will remain with the team through 2019, on his rookie deal.

On Tuesday, Philly.com’s Jeff McLane broke the news that the Eagles intend to hold onto Agholor without signing him to a new contract at all.

The Eagles and most importantly Mike Groh must now figure out where Agholor fits in the offense, especially with the return of Jackson, who’ll most definitely be a starter on the outside. In 2018, while playing on the outside, Agholor posted numbers of 20 catches (6.7 per game) on 25 targets, while replacing an injured Alshon Jeffery. With Jeffery back, an Agholor moved to the slot, he posted 21 catches (4.2 per game) on 30 targets, while averaging 10.8 yards per reception and no touchdowns.

With Dallas Goedert emerging, Agholor could see his role reduced even more, thus affecting his value on the open market in 2020.
