All signs continue to point toward the NBA completing its 2019-20 season.
The gross majority of the league’s teams have reopened their training facilities and Commissioner Adam Silver is expected to address the league’s board of governors on Friday. While there’s no telling whether all 30 teams will play again this season, we are beginning to get a clearer picture of the timeline that the league hopes to have in place.
On Wednesday, The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported that the league is currently working on protocols that would have teams reconvening sometime in July for training camps before a few exhibition games in Orlando. The goal would be for non-exhibition play to resume somewhere between late July and early August.
Also on Wednesday, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski joined up with Ramona Shelburne to publish a related report which states that the league is currently working on its proposal that will allow a limited number of family members to accompany players who will be on teams that advance to the latter stages of the playoffs.
At this point, it seems fair to conclude that — barring some unforeseen and unfortunate turn of events — we’ll have basketball back in short order.
