Report: NBA progressing to potential activities for non-Orlando teams

The Golden State Warriors, along with the other seven teams not in the Orlando bubble, could be hooping again soon.

According to Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer, the NBA is continuing to make strides in its plan to hold activities for the ‘Delete Eight.’ The plan still needs to be approved by the league and NBPA, but it consists of each team having a week of practice at its respective practice facilities. That would be set to begin in the second week of August.

Bonnell also reported that group workouts could be held by two teams, and the potential locations are not yet in place. News on the plan could come as soon as next week, per Bonnell.

NBPA executive director Michele Roberts has expressed the need for the eight teams to have just as safe a bubble as the Orlando one.

The possibility of the “Delete Eight’s” bubble being in Chicago arose in early July. Coach Steve Kerr said the Warriors would treat the time “like a summer league” and play “purely for development,” per Drew Shiller of NBC Sports Bay Area.

As the Warriors come off a transitional season, development is much needed. The Warriors have a host of young players in Eric Paschall, Jordan Poole and Marquese Chriss. Also, Andrew Wiggins still needs to grow acclimated with the roster, as he only played 12 games with Golden State before the shutdown.

The Warriors have the worst record in the league, and they’ll have an opportunity to have a top pick in the 2020 NBA draft. The draft is set for Oct. 16, and according to Tankathon, the Warriors have a 14% chance at earning the No. 1 pick.
