Report: Mitchell Trubisky and the Bears have ‘zero interest’ in a reunion

The Chicago Bears are heading into the offseason with many questions surrounding the team. One of those questions is what will happen with quarterback position as Mitchell Trubisky is heading into free agency and the franchise is now looking at other options.

According to ESPN 1000’s David Kapman, it sounds like Trubisky and the Bears have no interest in a reunion this offseason.

“I have talked to people who are close to Mitchell Trubisky, he has zero interest in coming back here,” Kapman said. “I’ve also talked to people who are close to Matt Nagy & they have zero interest in him coming back here.”

These could very well be rumors, but it’s hard to ignore them. The Bears have been looking around the quarterback market as they were interested in acquiring former Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford before he was traded to the Los Angeles Rams and, like the rest of the league, they’ve been monitoring the Deshaun Watson situation in Houston.

Now, all eyes are on the Bears and the Indianapolis Colts with a possible trade with the Philadelphia Eagles that could involve quarterback Carson Wentz.

Trubisky is set to become a free agent this offseason after spending four years in Chicago and totaling 10,609 passing yards, 64 passing touchdowns, eight rushing touchdowns, and a 87.2 rating. The former No. 2 pick in the 2017 NFL Draft was also a 2018 Pro Bowler and the 2021 NVP (Nickelodeon’s Valuable Player) in the 21-9 loss in the wild-card round to the New Orleans Saints.

There has been no reports that Trubisky or other teams have been in contact, but with the recent events with the Bears looking for a quarterback and now Kapman weighing in with his inside information, there could be zero interest with both sides.
