Report: Missouri OT Paul Adams set to take pre-draft visit with Chiefs

The Chiefs continue to bring in 2019 NFL draft prospects on pre-draft visits.

This time they’ve brought in a prospect who played college football just down I-70 in Columbia, Missouri. According to the Kansas City Star’s University of Missouri beat writer Alex Schiffer, the Chiefs are set to host offensive tackle Paul Adams today.

Adams was a two-time team captain at Missouri, playing in a total of 41 games at right tackle during his time with the team. Adams is listed at 6-foot-5 and  In the NFL, teams might foresee a move to guard for Adams in the future. He’s currently tabbed to be a Day 3 draft pick.

During the pre-draft process, Adams was among the players who participated in the East-West Shrine Game. The practice week wasn’t very kind to Adams, who had a repetition against Angelo State DE Markus Jones that went viral. Jones put Adams on his back with a strong bull rush, which helped put Jones on the map. Adams did improve as the week went on, and he even ended up meeting with Chiefs scouts during his time there.

At the combine it became abundantly clear that the biggest knock against Adams is his lack of strength. He put up a meager 16 bench press repetitions, which was the least of our draft class. He needs some time in an NFL training regiment in order to develop both upper and lower body strength.

If the Chiefs desire some developmental help along the offensive line, Adams should be worth a look late in the draft.
