Report: Mike Maccagnan’s lack of decisiveness played part in firing

There are numerous reasons why formers Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan was fired Wednesday, one of them being his decision-making skills.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Maccagnan lacked the decisiveness that the Jets were looking for. Rapoport said that Maccagnan couldn’t make fast decisions and also didn’t communicate his choices to the rest of the organization either. This also bothered other teams when trying to make deals with the Jets.

Some of Maccagnan’s decision, such as signing Le’Veon Bell and C.J. Mosley to monster deals, annoyed Adam Gase. The head coach let it be known around the league that he was growing frustrated with Maccagnan. They tried to work it out, but CEO Christopher Johnson felt it was time to move on from Maccagnan after four seasons.

With the GM search now on for the Jets, they clearly want someone who can make quick decisions and make them effectively. They’ll also be looking for someone who can get along with Gase.
