Report: Mid-June training, Mid-July NBA games ‘most popular scenario’

The NBA has purposely avoided putting out any specifics in public as they continue to figure out a way to return, including participating in a study with the Mayo Clinic that the clinic hopes can create a less-invasive coronavirus antibody test for the masses. With that study being the most publicized aspect of the league, that inevitably leads to some leaks about the league’s attempts to return to play, including the dates about a return that have been mentioned the most in the talks between the league and the players.

According to The Athletic’s Sam Amick and Shams Charania, the most mentioned scenario in meetings has been a return to ‘full training’ in mid-June and a return to games in mid-July, taking place at the Walt Disney World.

It’s still unclear what the presence of antibodies would mean for patients who have them, but if the NBA can play a part in helping bring more rapidly accessible tests to the public who needs them, it would make a safe return to a lot easier to envision.
