There is still no official word from the Detroit Lions on the exact status of quarterback Matthew Stafford and his injured ribs. But another report, this one from Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, expands upon the Monday reports that Stafford’s ribs are not fractured.
Fowler reports via a source that Stafford suffered a rib cartilage injury. Based on the painful symptoms No. 9 was obviously suffering after the awkward hit during Sunday’s loss to the Green Bay Packers, it makes sense.

Stafford will attempt to play through the pain, a testament to his toughness. There has been no word from the Lions on if Stafford will play or if the team will turn to Chase Daniel for Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans.
