Report: Matthew Stafford ruled OUT for Bears game

ESPN’s Adam Schefter and NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport are reporting Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford has been ruled OUT by doctors for the teams Week 10 matchup against the Chicago Bears.

Rapoport is reporting that Stafford had an MRI on Friday that revealed he would not be ready to play, and Schefter followed that report up by further explaining that Stafford had a fractured bone in his back.

Stafford had previous started 136 straight games but has been dealing with back and hip injuries all season.

Last offseason, Stafford reportedly had back surgery but entered the season healthy. Since the season has started, Stafford re-injured his back (played through it in Week 4), injured his hip (which he has been playing through) and now a second separate back injury that will cause him to miss some time.

Jeff Driskel will start in Stafford’s place against the Bears — for more on him, check out our Jeff Risdon’s piece on what the Lions are getting in Driskel.
