Report: Matt LaCosse to miss some time with MCL sprain

New England Patriots tight end Matt LaCosse will miss some time with an MCL sprain, according to NFL Network’s Mike Giardi.

LaCosse will miss at least a few weeks and his absence will create even more of a void at the tight end position for New England. He sustained the injury in New England’s 35-14 victory against the New York Giants.

Subsequently, the Patriots turned around and re-signed Benjamin Watson. They released him last week because they didn’t have a roster spot open, but he now has a place because fullback Jakob Johnson was placed on the injured reserve list.

New England now has Ryan Izzo, LaCosse and Watson on the depth chart for tight end. They’ll likely debut Watson on Monday night against the New York Jets, and he’ll provide the team with a skilled veteran.
