Report: Marqise Lee will be week-to-week with a ‘minor to moderate’ ankle injury

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Marqise Lee just can’t seem to catch a break from the injury bug. The veteran left Sunday’s game in the third quarter with an ankle injury and had to be helped off the field in the process. However, Jags fans can take a sigh of relief as the ankle injury isn’t season ending, but instead a week-to-week case.

Lee’s injury occurred on a rushing play in which he was blocking for running back Leonard Fournette. The veteran receiver’s ankle was rolled up under New Orleans Saints defensive back Vonn Bell, who was trying to bring Fournette down.

Lee worked hard to recover from an ACL tear he sustained last season in the preseason, which caused him to sit out all of the Jags’ preseason games despite being activated off the PUP list mid-August. The team kept him on the final 53-man roster and he was able to accumulate two receptions for 10 yards.

Lee’s injury could mean more snaps for Keelan Cole, who was at the bottom of the Jags depth chart at receiver. The Jags also have C.J. Board on the main roster, who has been inactive in all but one of the Jags’ regular season games. The one game in which he played (against the Houston Texans) was a result of Lee missing Week 2, so that may indicate that Board will see more time on the field, too.
