Report: Markieff Morris ‘considering’ Rockets, Lakers, Thunder, Raptors

The Houston Rockets are still among teams interested in forward Markieff Morris, according to Ramona Shelburne of ESPN. Morris has been cleared to play by a doctor in Los Angeles after being sidelined with a neck injury in December.

According to Shelburne, the Los Angeles Lakers also have significant interest in Morris, as Yahoo Sports first reported Monday, along with the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Toronto Raptors.

Morris averaged 11.5 points and 5.1 rebounds this season before being traded by the Washington Wizards. Houston has ties to the eight-year veteran dating back to when they first drafted his twin-brother Marcus Morris in 2011.

Morris reportedly wanted to join the Rockets in 2015 when he first demanded to be traded from Phoenix. He has a relationship with guard James Harden and even attended the star’s charity ‘JH-Town Weekend’ event this past summer.

Rockets GM Daryl Morey said last week that the Rockets intend to be active suitors on the buyout market and Morris would certainly be a worthwhile addition.

“We’re having multiple conversations,” Morey said. “We have a couple players on the top of the list. Until they clear waivers, it’s not something we can really talk about.”

According to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, Morris intends to choose his next team this team this week.
