According to a report by Marcel Louis-Jacques at ESPN, former Panthers defensive end Mario Addison has agreed to a three-year deal with the Bills.
Addison previously played for Buffalo’s head coach Sean McDermott when he was the defensive coordinator for Carolina from 2011-2016. He joins one of the league’s up-and-coming defensive units, which has a mean secondary and a strong core of young playmakers. The Bills’ pass rush isn’t bad, either. They totaled 44 sacks last season, good for No. 12 in the league.
Bringing in Addison should help push that ranking up even more. Since he started getting regular playing time, Addison has been one of the NFL’s most consistent pass rushers. He has posted a minimum of six sacks for six years in a row and totaled 9.5 in 2019, leading the Panthers.
Buffalo’s offense is also coming up – yesterday they traded four draft picks for Stefon Diggs, giving a massive upgrade to their receiver corps.
Losing Addison will hurt the front seven, but Carolina just don’t have enough cap space this year to keep everybody. Cornerback James Bradberry is also on his way out – he’s signing a three-year deal with the Giants.
