Report: LT Isaiah Wynn dealing with toe injury

New England Patriots left tackle Isaiah Wynn is dealing with a toe injury, according to multiple reports. Wynn left the Patriots’ Week 2 win over the Miami Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday. He did not return to game action. The recovery timeline for the toe issue is unclear.

Wynn, a 2018 first-round pick, missed all of his rookie season with an Achilles injury, but won the starting left tackle job during training camp. He made his first career start in Week 1 in 2019 with a strong outing.

Wynn isn’t the only Patriots tackle with injury woes. Marcus Cannon, the starter at right tackle, was dealing with a shoulder injury and couldn’t play in Week 2. The two injuries led the Patriots to play Marshall Newhouse, who admitted he only knew 80 percent of the playbook, and Korey Cunningham, who was a healthy scratch in Week 1 after joining the Patriots in a trade at the 53-man roster cuts.

The injuries to Wynn and Cannon will be worth monitoring. Bill Belichick and Dante Scarnecchia have a history of making the most out of rough situations. If Wynn and Cannon continue to miss time, they’ll have to do more of the same.
