Report: Lonzo Ball not dealt at trade deadline, to remain in New Orleans

After a week of ongoing rumors, Lonzo Ball will reportedly remain in New Orleans, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Thursday featured a near complete lack of rumors involving Ball with the lone exception being a passing mention from Wojnarowski of Chicago’s continued interest in Ball after the Bulls acquired Nikola Vucevic from the Orlando Magic.

Ball was one of the hotter names on the trade market this year. After breaking out with the Pelicans this season following a slow start, Ball has been included in trade talks in the weeks leading up to Thursday’s deadline.

A number of teams have had reported interest in Ball, including the Nuggets with a proposal around Bol Bol and the Hawks with a package built around Cam Reddish. However, it was the Chicago Bulls who emerged as the most serious contender for Ball heading into the final 24 hours before the deadline.

This season, Ball is averaging 14.2 points on a career-high 38.5% 3-point shooting percentage. After a slow start to the season, Ball is shooting 42.0% from 3-point range in his last 27 games dating back to mid-January, a stretch of over two months.
