ATLANTA _ Longtime Braves manager Bobby Cox has been released from the hospital, Channel 2 Action News reported late Thursday, citing unnamed sources.
Cox, 77, was hospitalized April 3, and the Braves organization later confirmed that Cox suffered a stroke. He will continue his recovery in a rehabilitation center, Channel 2 reported. He is able to walk with a cane, although he is unable to speak.
A four-time manager of the year, Cox's No. 6 is retired by the Braves. He won 2,504 games as a manager and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2014.
But despite his retirement, Cox has remained an active part of the team and works in the front office. Two days before being hospitalized, he participated in pregame festivities before the Braves' home opener.
Former and current players took to social media to express their well wishes to Cox.
"Please pray for my second dad," former outfielder Andruw Jones posted on Twitter.
Fans also signed cards for Cox at SunTrust Park.
No details were released late Thursday about where Cox is recovering or his long-term prognosis.
