Report: Lions worked out WR Jermaine Kearse but couldn’t agree on a deal

According to numerous reports from NFL insiders Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport among others, the Detroit Lions worked out free agent wide receiver Jermaine Kearse during the OTA session this week.

Per Rapoport from NFL.com, the two sides could not reach an agreement on a contract.

Kearse spent the last two seasons with the New York Jets. He caught less than half of the attempts thrown his way in 2018, hauling in 37 receptions on 73 targets. He did not play against the Lions in the ’18 opener.

Prior to the Jets, Kearse played under new Lions offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell with the Seattle Seahawks. He spent five seasons in Seattle, working his way up from undrafted free agent to starter on a playoff team.

He remains a free agent, and the Lions interest seems unlikely to wane. Perhaps the two sides will revisit a deal later this offseason.
