Report: Lions to waive 6th round pick WR Travis Fulgham

ESPN’s Field Yates is reporting that the Detroit Lions are waiving 6th round pick wide receiver Travis Fulgham.

The Lions have been looking for stability at the wide receiver position behind their top three options, moving on from Chris Lacy in favor of Marvin Hall — Lacy has since been signed to the Lions practice squad.

Now, Fulgham — the other receiver to make the 53-man roster out of training camp — has been released, which shouldn’t be overly surprising as he has been a gameday inactive each of the first three games this year. Fulgham has potential and is worth developing, and like Lacy, a return to Detroit via their practice squad could be in order (assuming he clears waivers).

The Lions have yet to confirm this move, so we don’t know who has taken his place on the active roster, but it’s likely the Lions have done one of three options: 1) promoted Lacy, 2) promoted a defensive tackle, or 3) added a free agent/trade.

With injuries to Mike Daniels and Da’Shawn Hand, the Lions only have Damon Harrison, A’Shawn Robinson and Kevin Strong on the interior defensive line and, if I had to guess, added/promoting a defensive tackle makes a lot of sense.

Stay tuned to Lions Wire for more updates as they happen.

Update: the Lions have confirmed Yates report, but didn’t announce a corresponding move:
