Report: Lions trade Quandre Diggs to Seattle for 5th-round pick

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero is reporting that the Detroit Lions are trading team captain Quandre Diggs and a 2021 seventh-round draft pick to the Seattle Seahawks for a fifth-round pick in 2020. The deal was confirmed by Justin Rogers of the Detroit News.

This is shocking news not just to the Lions community but teammates as well — Damon Harrison and Darius Slay took to social media to express their frustration.

Adding to the confusion surrounding this move, Diggs was given an extension last offseason and had two years remaining on his new, very affordable deal.

The Lions do have quality options at safety, including Tracy Walker (a former third-round pick), veteran Tavon Wilson and this year’s third-round pick Will Harris. It’s unclear who will take on the starting role opposite Walker; Wilson and Harris have rotated roles all season.

With the Lions announcing they placed running back Kerryon Johnson on injured reserve, they now have two open roster spots on their 53-man active roster.
