Detroit always hosts the early game on Thanksgiving Day. It’s an American holiday tradition which dates back generations. Ford Field gets to be the center of attention for the football world every Thanksgiving for a few hours.
The Lions’ opponent changes by the year. However, the 2019 foe appears it will be the same as 2018: the NFC North rival Chicago Bears.
According to John Ourand from Sports Business Journal, the Lions and Bears are the most likely matchup.
“The Thanksgiving afternoon games likely will feature the Bears and Lions on Fox and the Dolphins and Cowboys on CBS,” Ourand writes in a lengthy piece outlining some of the more prominent NFL games on the schedule.
We won’t know the 2019 NFL schedule for sure until late in April, though we do already know all of the Lions’ opponents for the upcoming season already.
