Report: Lions host visits for free agent RB Malcolm Brown and WR Tommylee Lewis

The Lions hosted two free agents on visits Friday. According to a report from Ben Volin of the Boston Globe, running back Malcolm Brown and wide receiver Tommylee Lewis met with the Lions in Allen Park.

Brown is not to be confused with the Patriots defensive tackle of the same name (who spells his name Malcom). This Malcolm Brown averaged 4.9 yards per carry for the Rams as Todd Gurley’s primary backup before a shoulder injury ended his 2018.

He is a restricted free agent. The Rams placed an original-round tender on him, but as an undrafted free agent, he is not subject to compensation. The Rams do have the ability to match any offer.

Lewis offers an option as a slot receiver. The 26-year-old Northern Illinois product is probably best-known for being the receiver who was interfered with in the NFC Championship game but no flag was thrown. He has just 20 receptions in three seasons as a 5-7, 170-pounder

Like Brown, Lewis was a restricted free agent but the Saints opted to not tender him an offer. Lewis also offers return specialist experience.
