Report: Lions could be interested in Oklahoma QB Jalen Hurts at 35

Could the Lions really take a quarterback at the No. 35 overall spot on Friday night? At least one national reporter seems to believe it’s a distinct possibility.

NFL.com’s Tom Pelissero reported on Friday that Oklahoma QB Jalen Hurts is a player to watch in conjunction with the Lions and the No. 35 pick. Pelissero notes Hurts met privately with Lions GM Bob Quinn last month.

The Lions also got to know Hurts in Mobile during Senior Bowl week. Hurts was on the South roster competing against the North squad, which was coached by Matt Patricia and his Detroit staff.

It seems unlikely the Lions would use such a high pick to address the backup/developmental QB position with so many other needs, but Hurts does hold some definite appeal as a prospect.
