Report: LeBron had ‘safe’ workouts with ‘up to two’ teammates

It’s been just less than a week since the Los Angeles Lakers joined several other teams across the NBA in opening their practice facility, but LeBron James was quietly working behind the scenes, in a reportedly “safe” fashion, with a couple of teammates at a time, in order to sharpen the blade and get ready for a summer sprint to a championship.

The Athletic/Stadium’s Shams Charania, who is also represented by Klutch Sports, reported on Thursday that LeBron James has had workouts at a ‘secure location’ with ‘up to’ two teammates at a time. There were no specifics on who LeBron was shooting hoops with, but most of the team stayed in Los Angeles, so there was probably no shortage of willing participants to join him. It’s unclear exactly how safe it was, but the insistence is that it was.

Teams are allowing players to have socially distanced workouts at their facilities all across the league, with the Dallas Mavericks being among the most notable teams who have yet to open their facilities.

According to reports, the NBA is hoping to have players back to full training by the end of June and have games played by mid-July.
