Report: LaMelo Ball conducted individual workout with Minnesota Timberwolves

LaMelo Ball may be going through the final phases of solidifying his spot as the top pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. ESPN’s Jonathan Givony reported on Wednesday night that Ball conducted an individual workout for the Minnesota Timberwolves earlier in the day in Southern California.

It is unclear who attended the workout from the Timberwolves, but Givony noted that a source present at the workout said that Ball ‘shot the ball well.’ The workout was his first private workout with a team and was also Ball’s second meeting with the Timberwolves. The previous meeting was a simple interview, also taking place in California, with Minnesota head coach Ryan Saunders and president of basketball operations Gersson Rosas.

On Monday, Givony reported that many front office types around the league expected Ball to be the No. 1 pick, whether that was for the Timberwolves or with another team. That Minnesota requested and was granted the chance to watch Ball go through a workout likely means the franchise is serious about selecting him with the top pick.
