Report: Lakers target Andre Iguodala signs with Warriors

As the Los Angeles Lakers continue to pencil in the 15-man roster, many veterans have been eager to join the franchise.

With LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook leading the way, albeit on lucrative contracts, the Lakers have operated under financial constraints to bring serviceable veterans to the squad.

So far, players who have signed on veteran minimum deals include Carmelo Anthony, Dwight Howard, Wayne Ellington, Trevor Ariza and Kent Bazemore. Even Malik Monk, 23, took the minimum for a chance to raise his value for next season.

Los Angeles also had interest in signing Lou Williams before he re-signed with the Atlanta Hawks.

Another name that popped up was veteran forward Andre Iguodala, who said Thursday the Lakers were one of three teams on his shortlist.

However, Iguodala has now made his decision, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic:

Iguodala became a staple with the Golden State Warriors during his tenure from 2013 to 2019; he also won the 2015 NBA Finals MVP award.

The 37-year-old is taking the minimum deal with the Warriors and already has significant chemistry with Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green.

He should also have a better role because the Lakers already have Ariza, Anthony and Bazemore as veteran wings who can play the three and four positions.
