Report: Lakers’ Russell Westbrook, Avery Bradley enter health and safety protocol

The Lakers entered Wednesday’s game with the Mavericks with three players out due to the league’s health and safety protocol, and on Thursday bolstered their ranks by signing Isaiah Thomas to a 10-day hardship exception.

Shortly after the news broke of the Thomas signing, the Lakers lost another key player to protocol, as ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Dave McMenamin are reporting that Russell Westbrook has now entered health and safety protocol.

Westbrook scored 23 points and dished a key assist to Austin Reaves for a game-winning 3-pointer in overtime against the Mavs. Westbrook tested positive for COVID-19 in July of 2020 while he was a member of the Houston Rockets, just before play resumed that year in the Orlando bubble.

[UPDATE]: Lakers guard Avery Bradley has also entered health and safety protocol. Per Shams Charania, the Lakers are re-testing players.

The Lakers’ next game is scheduled for Friday night in Minnesota.
