Report: Lakers free agent target Markieff Morris cleared to play

The Los Angeles Lakers appear to be one step closer to filling their open roster spot and it’s looking even more likely that the spot won’t be filled by veteran Carmelo Anthony.

Yahoo’s Chris Haynes reports that recently waived forward Markieff Morris has been cleared to return to action after a neck injury that caused him to miss the past five weeks. Morris is, of course, represented by Rich Paul of Klutch Sports.

The Los Angeles Times reported on the Lakers interest in Morris last week, saying that they would strongly consider adding the forward if he was cleared to return to action. Morris was traded from the Washington Wizards to the New Orleans Pelicans last week before being waived by New Orleans.

However, Morris could have some other options on the table such as the Houston Rockets also have an interest in the forward, so it’s not exactly a lock that he will be in purple and gold after the All-Star Break.
