Report: Lakers eyeing Seth Curry, Terrence Ross among non-max options

Everyone knows that the Los Angeles Lakers are big game hunting now that they’ve officially agreed to create $32 million in cap space as a result of expanding the Anthony Davis trade to include the Washington Wizards on Thursday morning.

But Thursday’s news also brought some additional details about what the Lakers contingency plans are as the NBA’s free agent period is already taking shape with more than three days to go until it officially begins.

ESPN’s trio of Adrian Wojnarowski, Zach Lowe and Bobby Marks reported that the Lakers are targeting a collection of perimeter shooters if they are unable to secure a max level star such as D’Angelo Russell or Kawhi Leonard.

If the Lakers decide to break up the money, they’re interested in several combinations of players including Toronto Raptors Danny Green, Orlando Magic Terrence Ross, Portland Trail Blazer Seth Curry and several other free agents with a strong shooting ability.

Curry and Green each shot over 45% from the 3-point line this season while Ross, a career 37% 3-point shooter, shot 38% with the Orlando Magic while averaging a career-high 15 points per game off the bench.

The younger Curry has long been connected to the Lakers and it’s clear that their priority outside of adding more star talent is to make sure LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Kyle Kuzma all have the proper room to operate.
