Report: Kyrie Irving wasn’t a fan of living in Boston

There are many reasons why Kyrie Irving could leave the Boston Celtics, ranging from a contentious relationship with teammates to a desire to play for his hometown team. However, according to ESPN’s Jackie MacMullan (h/t CLNS Media’s Adam Kaufman), there’s another — much more simple — that Irving could be looking to leave the Celtics this summer.

He just didn’t want to live there.

Irving “didn’t like Boston,” says Irving. “He didn’t like living in Boston. Just didn’t.”

Whether there’s any truth or not to the idea that Irving didn’t like living in Boston, it’s hard to fault anybody for wanting to play in a city that they prefer to live in.

It may be an insult to Boston natives, though, that Irving wasn’t fond of Beantown.

What’s notable about MacMullan’s report, or sentiment, is that Irving spent the bulk of his younger years in New Jersey and New York. The eight-year veteran has been linked to the Brooklyn Nets, who moved from New Jersey in 2012, and the New York Knicks ahead of free agency.
