Report: Kyle Kuzma not expected to play more than 15-20 minutes Friday

The Los Angeles Lakers are expected to get an infusion of scoring and talent on Friday night when Kyle Kuzma makes his season debut against the Dallas Mavericks. But if you want to watch Kuz in his debut, you better make sure that you’re ready to watch because it doesn’t promise to be a long time.

In what will be his first competitive game since suffering a stress reaction in the summer, Kuzma is not expected to exceed the “15-to-20” minutes range, according to The Athletic/Stadium’s Shams Charania. Kuzma played in his first real practice on Wednesday with the South Bay Lakers, the team’s G League affiliate, before being recalled to the Lakers immediately after.

The Mavericks have had an impressive start to the season and like the Lakers have a 3-1 record through four games. Dallas is also coming off an impressive road win at Denver and some phenomenal performances from Luka Doncic, as well as strong outings from new big man Kristaps Porzingis.

Kuzma will almost certainly come off the bench in the opener and he won’t be out there for long, but he will have a great opportunity to get his feet wet in what should be a very competitive matchup against a team with playoff aspirations.
