Report: Kliff Kingsbury Interviewing for Texans OC Job

Former Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury is interviewing with the Texans for their offensive coordinator position, ESPN’s Dan Graziano reports.

Arizona fired Kingsbury last month following four seasons as the team’s coach. He spent the previous nine seasons of his career either in the college ranks, as the coach of Texas Tech, and before that, offensive coordinator at Texas A&M and Houston. After getting fired, Kingsbury famously left the country for a vacation in Thailand instead of jumping into the hiring cycle.

The Texans just hired former 49ers defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans as their new head coach. If Kingsbury takes this job, he may have the opportunity to coach a rookie quarterback, as Houston owns the No. 2 overall pick in the NFL draft this May.

Last year, the Texans finished 30th in points per game and 31st in yards per game, with 17 and 283.5. For comparison. The Cardinals finished with 20 points and 323.5 yards per game under Kingsbury in 2022, which ranked Nos. 21 and 22 in the league, respectively.

As Kingsbury interviews for the job, the Texans have reportedly hired former Cardinals defensive line coach Matt Burke as their new defensive coordinator.
