Report: Klay Thompson ruled out for remainder of 2019-20 season

Already a long-held assumption, the New York Times’ Marc Stein now reports that the Golden State Warriors have ruled out the possibility of Klay Thompson playing at any point this season.

However, Thompson — who tore his ACL in Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals — is expected to remain in contention for a spot on Team USA’s 12-man roster this summer ahead of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Thompson played for Team USA in the 2016 Olympic Games, where he averaged 9.9 points, 2.5 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 0.8 steals in 21 minutes per game, shooting 36.4 percent from the field and 32.7 percent from three-point range.

While Thompson won’t be suiting up this season, Stein reports that he’s “making good progress in his injury rehab.”

The jovial sharpshooter has certainly been in good spirits though, judging by his social media, so fans should see a fully healthy Klay in 2020-21.
