Report: Klay Thompson diagnosed with a torn ACL after Game 6 loss

Everything was working right on Thursday night for Golden State Warriors sharpshooter Klay Thompson. He was knocking down three-pointers, getting to the rim, making big plays and single-handily keeping the Warriors’ three-peat dreams alive.

Then, one awkward landing after a shot attempt ruined the night and quite possibly all of the 2019-20 season as well.

Thompson, who finished with 30 points on 8-for-12 shooting and 4-for-6 from deep, was huge for Golden State all night. But one bad landing in the third quarter after driving in for a dunk and being fouled by Toronto Raptors guard Danny Green ended his night and the outcome of the game.

Thompson left the court, ran back out from the tunnel to make his free throws and then left the arena in crutches. Post game, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Thompson has suffered a torn ACL.

With Kevin Durant already expected to miss all of the 2019-20 season with an Achilles injury, the Warriors could ill afford losing Thompson for what is expected to be a long amount of time. It’s a devastating turn of events for a franchise that was on the cusp of winning a third straight title.
