The New York Giants hosted a series of free agent wide receivers on Saturday morning, but contrary to earlier reports, Kelvin Benjamin was not among the group who descended upon East Rutherford.
Although Benjamin was extended an invite, he was not on the finalized list for workouts.
Why Benjamin did not attend the workout is unclear, but at least for now, there does not appear to be a secondary group coming in or additional workouts planned.
The Giants have a sudden need at the wide receiver position after losing Corey Coleman for the season due to a torn ACL. They’re also dealing with several other injuries that damaged the depth, including a fractured thumb for Sterling Shepard, a hamstring injury for Darius Slayton and a groin injury for Brittan Golden.
These bumps and bruises all came after the Giants opening training camp by placing rookie wide receiver Alex Wesley on the physically unable to perform list.
