Report: Kanter a likely trade target for ‘couple of teams’ with interest

Could Enes Kanter be on the move?

According to The Action Network’s Matt Moore, the veteran big man is a player of interest around the league in terms of being a trade target — and after opting into the final year of his current contract, worth $5 million, Kanter can now be dealt.

In fact, it appears a draft night trade was orchestrated for that reason — a trade that sent pick No. 30 to the Memphis Grizzlies in return for two future firsts could simply be an asset play to push the team’s draft pick forward into seasons they might have more room to roster them.

But it could also be to send Kanter’s salary with it, too.

For now, only intel spilling from trusted mouths or action will clarify the issue — and it’s not like the Turkish big man can’t contribute if he stays; he was a helpful player last season and even factored into some critical playoff wins.

The question at the heart of the matter is whether there might be a better option for one or both sides in the offing, as the veteran center may be looking for a bigger opportunity, and Boston a less-specialized skill set.
