Report: K’Waun Williams’ 2-game suspension rescinded

49ers cornerback K’Waun Williams on Tuesday was suspended by the NFL. NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero on Wednesday reported the suspension would be rescinded. He cited issues with the test procedures as the reason Williams will have his two-game suspension taken away.

The two-game suspension indicated the cornerback tested positive for a stimulant, diuretic or masking agent according to the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing substances. Williams was not going to appeal the suspension per Matt Barrows of the Athletic.

While the rescinded suspension validates the innocence Williams maintained, it likely won’t have an impact on whether he comes back any time soon. He’s been out since Week 9 with a high ankle sprain that head coach Kyle Shanahan intimated would sideline him for several weeks.

Even if he was getting healthy, the most he would probably do in the next couple weeks is practice.

Williams in six games this season has 14 tackles, 1.0 sacks and two pass breakups.
