Report: Julian Edelman’s x-rays are negative after injury in Week 3

X-rays for New England Patriots receiver Julian Edelman came up negative on Sunday after he suffered a chest injury during the team’s 30-14 win over the New York Jets on Sunday, according to ESPN’s Ian Rapoport.

Edelman went to the ground on a short passing play, and two Jets defenders jumped on him as he hit the turf. He came up holding his right side as he left the game and headed to the locker room. He did not return.

Even while only playing in one half, Edelman logged a team-high seven receptions for 62 yards and a touchdown.

Quarterback Tom Brady addressed Edelman’s absence after the game.

“When you’re missing your best players, it gets more challenging and your margin of error goes down,” Brady said Sunday at a press conference at Gillette Stadium. “But, every team deals with it. I mean, they certainly weren’t healthy today. They’ve been missing a lot of guys, too. So, it’s just part of it, and we’re going to deal with it all year, and guys who are in there, they have to go and do a really good job. When we’re all healthy, it feels good, but we’ve still got to go execute. And when we’re not, we’ve still got to go execute, and that’s what we’re going to try to do. ”
