Report: Jordan Bell signs with the Minnesota Timberwolves

Jordan Bell had a solid rookie season and things looked promising moving forward. He was a key member of the Golden State Warriors getting past the Houston Rockets in the Western Conference Finals in 2018 due to his pick-and-roll defense. He was becoming a fan favorite at Oracle Arena.

But the second-year player was inconsistent in his second season and failed to improve his game. Bell had his moments but struggled, especially on the defensive end. Coach Steve Kerr showed little confidence in him during the postseason and when he did play, it yielded poor results.

On Monday, Bell’s tenure with the Warriors ended. Mark Medina of The Mercury News has reported that Bell has agreed to a one-year deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Michael Scotto reports that it is a minimum contract of $1.6 million.

The Warriors have the opportunity to match the Timberwolves’ offer but it appears unlikely because of the recent sign-and-trade with Kevin Durant and D’Angelo Russell.

Bell also had offers from the Houston Rockets, Oklahoma City Thunder and Utah Jazz but the Timberwolves seemed to be the best fit for his game. The Warriors will miss his athleticism and shot-blocking ability. But the organization will turn their attention towards Kevon Looney.

Bell averaged four points, three rebounds and one block per game with the Warriors.
