Report: Jonah Williams could not have played through injury

Cincinnati Bengals left tackle Jonah Williams is likely lost for the season and though some might ask, it doesn’t sound like he could have gritted it out.

In the past, other offensive linemen around the NFL have played through shoulder issues such as the labrum tear Williams just had surgery on to repair.

But according to Paul Dehner Jr. of The Atheltic, this wasn’t an option: “League sources indicated to The Athletic that Williams unequivocally could not have played through the injury this year.”

As to whether this was a past issue that might explain why Williams wore a brace in college, the report goes on to state there weren’t any medical red flags on the Alabama product’s evaluation.

In other words, doctors viewed the operation as a necessity for a full recovery, which could take anywhere in the range of six-plus months before getting back into the swing of football work.

While others have played through similar issues in the past, the Bengals have the future in mind and also have the luxury of turning back to Cordy Glenn on the left edge of the offensive line.
