Report: John Dorsey is out as GM of the Cleveland Browns

A disappointing year is leading to a housecleaning in Cleveland. Days after first-year coach Freddie Kitchens was fired, GM John Dorsey is out, too, reports ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Dorsey was formerly the GM of the Kansas City Chiefs, He came to Cleveland two years ago. Dorsey drafted quarterback Baker Mayfield, running back Nick Chubb and cornerback Denzel Ward. He also was responsible for the free-agent signing of wide receiver Jarvis Landry and the acquisition of fellow LSU wideout Odell Beckham Jr.

The 2019 Browns entered the season with great expectations but finished 6-10.

More from Cleveland.com:

Dorsey and his top football execs have also been at odds this season with Browns Chiefs Strategy Officer Paul DePodesta, who oversees the analytics side.

One of Dorsey’s hires, Vice President of Player Personnel Alonzo Highsmith, is also on his way out. Highsmith has a chance to take over football operations at his alma mater, the University of Miami.

It remains to be seen if assistant general manager Eliot Wolf will remain with the club, but considering he was Dorsey’s righthand man, he could be on thin ice too.
