Report: Joe Mixon injury update coming out of MRI offers good news

The injury scare to Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon appears to be over.

According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, further testing on Mixon’s knee came back clean: “Update: Mixon’s MRI results came back ‘all good,’ source said. He might even have a shot to play Week 2 vs. 49ers. Either way, no extended absence expected. Good news for Bengals”

That’s a huge relief for a Bengals team that went without Mixon in Seattle after he suffered the setback. The injury was initially reported as a strain after he was labeled questionable but never returned.

While Mixon and the running game had a hard time in the loss and it wasn’t a big part of the plan thanks to Seattle’s defense, that won’t always be the case.

The team figures to take it day by day here, yet it suddenly isn’t hard to see Mixon taking the field at home in Week 2 against the San Francisco 49ers.
