Report: Joe Douglas would only take Jets GM job if given full control of the roster

Joe Douglas is a coveted name in the search for a new GM for the New York Jets, but like many of the successful executives around the league, the Eagles top personnel guy isn’t going to bite at the job without some control. Ian Rapoport had previously reported that the Jets have requested permission to interview Douglas for their vacant general manager job.

Now according to Howard Eskins of 94WIP, Douglas is reluctant to accept the job without a complete say on the roster.

Douglas and Gase have a relationship, as he spent a year in Chicago after a 16 year run in the Baltimore Ravens’ personnel department before joining the Eagles in 2016. In Philadelphia, Douglas has developed a reputation around the league as a key cog in Howie Roseman’s front office, while playing a role in constructing the Eagles’ Super Bowl LII-winning team and the deep roster that currently awaits the 2019 season.
