Report: Jets wanted first-rounder for Sheldon Richardson

The Jets reportedly were more than willing to deal Sheldon Richardson before the trade deadline. But their asking price was apparently too steep for NFL teams.

During their trade talks with the Dallas Cowboys, the Jets asked for a first-round pick in either 2017 or 2018 for the versatile defensive lineman, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. But that was more than team owner Jerry Jones was willing to give up.

The Jets' trade demands were made well before Richardson was benched, along with Muhammad Wilkerson, for the first quarter of Sunday's game in Miami. A source told Newsday that the two linemen were disciplined by coach Todd Bowles for being late to a team meeting.
