The Jets and Jay Cutler appear to be on the verge of meeting face to face.
Members of the front office are still "keeping tabs" on the former Chicago quarterback and are expected to bring him in for a visit, according to NFL.com.
Cutler immediately was connected to the Jets following his release last week from the Bears last week. But while he may be the most talented option on the free-agent market, it remains to be seen if he'll end up with the Jets for good.
A source confirmed to Newsday on Monday that the Eagles are expected to grant Chase Daniel's request to be released after the organization agreed to terms on a two-year deal with former starter Nick Foles.
There are plenty of other quarterback options, but the pickings are slim from a production standpoint _ i.e., Robert Griffin III, Colin Kaepernick, plus former Jets starters Geno Smith and Ryan Fitzpatrick. Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins and Bengals backup A.J. McCarron also could be options via trade.
