Report: Jets add 2 more names to GM search

The Jets have added two more names to their general manager search.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, New York has sought permission to speak with Vikings assistant GM George Paton and Seahawks co-director of player personnel Scott Fitterer. They join a list of candidates that already includes Philadelphia’s Joe Douglas and Chicago’s Champ Kelly.

The Jets are in need of a new GM after firing Mike Maccagnan. Adam Gase is currently serving as the interim GM; he will have a say in a hiring decision that will ultimately be Christopher Johnson’s call.

Paton is an interesting candidate. He’s been with the Vikings for 12 years now and has declined opportunities to interview for GM jobs in the past. That includes the Jets’ last opening in 2015. Paton has overseen Minnesota’s scouting department.

Fitterer, meanwhile started with the Seahawks in 2001 as an area scout. He was a candidate for the Chiefs GM job two years ago.
