Report: Jaylen Brown out with cut hand, will be ready for playoffs

Whatever case star Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown was making towards earning an All-NBA bid might have to rest its defense with news that the Georgia native has cut his hand open to the tune of needing medical intervention, according to new reporting from The Athletic NBA insider Jared Weiss.

Per Weiss, “Brown cut his right hand picking up a glass vase he knocked over while watering his plants last night and got 5 stitches.” Weiss also relates that “he’s expected to be ready for the playoffs, but he’s pissed.” NBC Sports Boston’s Abby Chin echoed that sentiment on the broadcast for the Celtics tilt with the Toronto Raptors on Friday night, adding that the Cal alum is not expected to take the court again for the rest of the 2022-23 season.

With only the contest remaining against the Atlanta Hawks to close out the season coming up on Sunday afternoon, however, there wasn’t too much left for Brown to use in order to burnish his All-NBA case.

And with that case having already picked up a fair amount of steam in the media, a little additional rest ahead of the postseason could well turn out to be a (slightly painful) blessing in disguise.
