Report: Javonte Green has knee surgery, to miss at least two weeks

Boston Celtics reserve wing Javonte Green had arthroscopic surgery today on a small meniscal tear in his right knee, per a press release circulated by the team.

While Green has not been a significant part of the Celtics’ postseason rotation so far, the faster, smaller Toronto Raptors might have been a series he’d have seen more floor time against.

The Radford product’s estimated recovery time of two to three weeks to resume basketball activities gives him a return time on or close to the same timetable as forward Gordon Hayward, out with a severe ankle sprain and expecting the birth of a child.

The Celtics wing had the surgery with Celtics Team Physician Tony Schena at New England Baptist Hospital, according to the team.

From the sounds of it, Green had about as minor of a surgery as one can given the very short turnaround, with the Virginian expected to rejoin the team in the bubble in as little as a week.

Presumably to take advantage of the Disney restart’s facilities and team staff already in the ‘bubble’.

Whatever the case, we wish Green a speedy recovery, so he may have a chance at earning some more minutes in Boston’s 2020 postseason.
